Frequently Asked QuestionsUsing the OLC (3)Information about using the Open Learning Center (OLC). Instructional support is currently available in the form of moderated threaded discussion groups and FAQs within the course. Please see your specific course by selecting the My Courses link above. If you are an existing Sun Online user (for example, BigAdmin or Sun Developer Network), use your Sun Online account login/password. If you do not have a Sun Online account, register for a Sun Online Account at: https://reg.sun.com/register. The OLC uses Sun's single sign-on login protocol: My Sun Online. This means that employees can log in to the OLC using their Sun email address and LDAP password and that partners can log in using the login/password combination they use to access such portals as Big Admin or My Sun Online. Therefore, employees who need to reset their password will need to do so in NetAdmin or by contacting Service Desk and partners can reset their passwords by going to: https://reg.sun.com//accounthelp?program=portal&goto=https://portal.sun.... Troubleshooting (3)Once you are entitled to take an on-demand lab, a link to that lab will appear in your learning management system from:
When you click on the link for your specific lab, you are automatically redirected to this site, slslabs.sun.com, and will see your lab listed in the My Labs menu on the right. At this point, you should complete the following steps:
In the "Course" box on the right side of the course view, you will see a lab workbook link when you have been entitled to take the course. Select that link and you will download a PDF version of the Lab Workbook. (See also "How do I trigger a lab?") Simply enter the word or phrase in the text field in the upper right corner of the web site and click Search. The search will return matches in the Help system, forums, FAQs, or any other content contained on the site. The following browsers work with the TrueLab Gateway:

If your TrueLab applet is frozen, try the following workarounds:
Note: Users must click Always the first time they are prompted to select the TrueLab security certificate. If you select to accept the certificate just for this session, some browsers will not launch the applet correctly. If this happens, open the Java Control Panel by double-clicking the Java icon in the status bar at the bottom of your Windows desktop, remove the entry for the TrueLab/Hatsize security certificate, and try to reload the applet. It should prompt you to accept the security certificate once again and this time you should click Always. First, verify that you can successfully run the System Checker (slslabs.sun.com/syscheck). Then, if performance is still slow, try the following:
This is a course specific setup which (if set up) will be accessible from the TrueLab applet. Select Secondary connection from the Group menu in the TrueLab applet to open a telnet connection. The TrueLab applet runs on the following operating systems:

IBIS Labs (19)IBIS Self-Managed Practice Labs (SMPL) are group practice workshops conducted by super users from within your business unit. As some transactions are more challenging than others, there will be SMPL hands-on practice of specific transactions in a live Oracle 11i training environment. SMPL Sessions allow you to practice what you learned in the 300-level simulated environment with your peers in a live Oracle training environment. Note: IBIS SMPL Sessions were formerly known as IBIS Open Labs. There are no assessments with Facilitated SMPL Lab sessions and no credit granted for participating in an SMP lab. You organization will inform you of any scheduled SMPL sessions for which you can register. If you are unsure contact you manager. SMPL Labs are conducted by Super Users or Subject Matter Experts within your business unit. Open Labs was re-branded to IBIS Self-Managed Practice Labs (SMPL) and Sandbox was re-branded to MySandbox in November 2007. An individual login uses your job role mapping information and provides you with access to data you need to participate in a Self-Managed Practice Lab (formerly Open Lab) or to practice activities in the MySandbox environment, related to your specific role. Example Individual Login It is most likely that your job role mapping has not been entered into the training environment. Please use a Generic Login. Generic Login information can be obtained from your Business Unit Training Manager or from the link contained in your confirmation or 48-hour reminder email. Generic logins are used by participants in an Self-Managed Practice Lab (formerly Open Lab) or MySandbox environment. In D1b some individual logins were created in addition to generic logins. The D3 strategy was changed to include only generic logins . Please contact your Business Unit Training Manager if the generic login you need is not visible on the MySandbox page or in the Links for Logins page included in the SMPL confirmation email provided by your SMPL facilitator. Java 5.0 update 11 (Also known as Jave Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.5.0_11) Firefox version 2.x and above (Mozilla is NOT supported). Yes, but only down-revs. If you run any version higher than 5.0 release 11, you will not be able to access the Oracle 11i environment. You will need to use the MS "remove" program in the control panel to uninstall higher versions of Java. Please refer to the Help pages at http://slslabs.sun.com/ibis/help/page for step-by-step instructions on contacting support for either the Oracle 11i training environment or the IBIS Community Portal. No, you do not need to sign-up to use the sandbox environment. However there are a limited number of users who can access the environment at one time. If you are not able to sign-on, try again in a couple of hours. When you are done using the environment, make sure to log out so that other students can log in. All Self-Managed Practice Lab (SMPL) sessions are REQUIRED to be scheduled in advance of the lab event. This is done by the designated business unit registrar. The registrar receives a confirmation email that details access to the session, including the entitlement link that must be used to access the session. In addition, if the registrar associates a facilitator to the scheduled session, both the registrar and the facilitator will receive a reminder email 48 hours before the session start time. This 48-hour email is designed to be sent to the lab attendees as it contains detailed directions on how to access the SMPL session. The SMP lab attendee will be required to enter a unique session ID number (contained in both the confirmation and 48-hour emails) starting Dec. 22, 2007, before being allowed to access the Oracle training environment. The lab attendee and facilitator will be prompted to enter this unique session ID number after clicking "Start SMPL Session" from the applicable SMPL session page. The IBIS Self-Managed Practice Lab (SMPL), formerly IBIS Open Labs, Community Portal was released for general availability to Sun employees and partners on November 29, 2007(D1a). The IBIS SMPL Community Portal is designed as the single entry point to access all SMPL and MySandbox related information. From this web site, you can learn about IBIS system requirements, review FAQs, participate in IBIS forums, and connect to scheduled Self-Managed Practice Labs or access the IBIS training sandbox referred to as, MySandbox. What Changed? Facilitators will receive an email from the registrar or directly from the scheduling tool with detailed information about how to access the lab session, including login and password information. This email should be sent to all lab attendees as it contains detailed information about how to access their SMP lab event. The IBIS SMPL Community Quick Start Guide is located in the right hand channel of the portal and takes less than 5 minutes to review . The IBIS Community Portal was implemented to help monitor and report on utilization of the Oracle 11i training environments. As such, access to these links must be granted through a special link called the "Entitlement Link." The Entitlement Link lets the portal know that you are entitled to access a SMPL or MySandbox environment. You can get the Entitlement Link from one of two places, depending on which type of user you are:
Important Note: If you attempt to access the IBIS Community Portal for the first time by navigating to slslabs.sun.com/ibis YOU WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE SMPL or MYSANDBOX SESSIONS. Documentation on system configuration, the help pages, and the Forum/FAQ section are the only pages available to un-entitled users. Please refer to the above instructions for accessing the Portal through the Entitlement Link. This is the much simpler service request form which replaces the old JumpPack request form. The goal is to engage with the Learning Technology - lab services team earlier in the development cycle. USe this request form if you need a jumppack developed/released for any course, help with the RLDC engineers for a remote lab, or support with a self-paced lab.
