This is the web address of the Open
Learning Center (OLC). We've made much of the community visible in a
read-only basis for anonymous users. For posting privileges and
access to on-demand labs you will need to register and log in.
Log In or Register/Log In Sun employees, partners, and those who already have a My Sun Online account are already subscribed to the OLC because the OLC uses the same authentication as other Sun communities such as My Sun Online, BigAdmin, and the Sun Developers Network. Sun
employees are automatically subscribed and log in with their
first.last@sun.com email as a username, and their LDAP password. If
you need to register, simply click the link at the bottom of the login box and
the session is redirected to MySun Connection, Sun's customer facing identity
platform used by customers and partners. Follow the registration
process, log in, and return to the OLC.
Explore! The OLC is
built on a modular framework based on learning objects such as labs, web-based training, self-tests, and so on. Those under development are visible
only to the development team. Membership to the development team is
open to any engineer interested in participating as a content
reviewer, and/or testing the labs as part of an SLS Residency (see
the Residency button for more details). Production labs are visible under
the Labs header for anyone to peruse. A lab module consists of three
primary components: an FAQ, a forum, and a lab session. A lab
forum is a threaded discussion group where individual users are
encouraged to ask or answer questions, post opinions, share best
practices, call out bugs or anything else which helps drive and
improve the community. Any user can read the forum, and any user
subscribed to that lab can post to the forum. A lab FAQ
(Frequently Asked Question) is a collection of questions and answers
that have been determined to be most relevant to the majority of
users. The FAQ is a read-only resource that is moderated by a
Sun-recognized subject matter expert for that lab content. A lab
session consists of lab materials, access into a lab environment,
and support services. More details on the lab session are covered
below. Finally there is a growing Help section that describes
site navigation, usage, and general help topics.
Select the "Labs"
link from the blue header bar at the top of the window This
displays all of the released labs currently in the OLC.
